Your Mind: The Real Battlezone
By: Shawn Driscoll

In today's world, the battle for your attention and your focus is at an all time high.  There are several wars that are constantly being fought in that grey area between our ears.  You might say that rockets are being fired at machinegun speeds that are "imaginations exalting themselves against the true knowledge of God".   Fear based strategies of darkness are continually launched into our eyes and ears and then into the war zone of our mind.

Your mind is the center of your personality. (See Romans 7: 14-25.) It is the battlefield of your personality.  It continually engages in an age old war between the flesh and the spirit. In the natural sense, your experience, your friends, your peers, your education, your environment, and what you they have spoken into your life, dramatically affect your thinking...how you value yourself and how you look at your world. Today, we are bombarded with things in our world that have no real lasting value. These things are a part of a strategy designed to satisfy our flesh and drive us farther from the heart of God and from His calling in our life. So many things He created for his Glory have been perverted in almost every conceivable fashion by the Devil himself to infect our belief system and turn it from faith to fear. The temptation to indulge in theses things is everywhere. This battle rages in our mind. That is why it is so important to do what Paul says in Romans 12.  He says we can break the pattern of the world by being transformed through the renewing of our mind:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is---His good, and pleasing perfect will."

We all have struggles. Even Paul had his, but he discovered a wonderful secret. We can learn from him. Everyday we need to renew our mind. You might be thinking to yourself, "but Shawn how do you renew your mind. I’ve been thinking this way for years and change is so hard." I’m glad you asked. I can only tell you what I'm doing, and I know it works.

1. Understand how much God loves you and has already invested into your life.

2. Expose lies that the devil has told you, either through other people, or through mental suggestions that you have repeated or believed.
(See John 8:44-45)

3. Get into the Word. The Word of God has the power to transform your
thinking. Read the Word, believe the Word, and obey the Word.

4. Allow Jesus to live His life through you. (See Galatians 2:20)

5. Take your thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ.
(See I Corinthians 10:5)

6. Begin to see yourself as God sees you and think His thoughts for your life.
(See Jeremiah 29:11 Amplified)

7. Claim the mind of Christ for yourself. He promised you can have it.
(See I Corinthians 2:16)

Before you or I can ever have victory in our lives, we have to receive it in our heart and in our mind. God wants you and me to have victory in our minds, but it's up to us to develop a DAILY routine that renews our mind to His word.
